Semester One
During the first half of the year, we will go through four units. The first will be a unit that introduces major concepts within philosophy and how to be a better thinker. In unit two, we will examine two types of epistemologies (you'll understand that after unit one) and look at constructing good arguments and breaking down bad ones. By the third unit, we will look at the nature of reality and determine how much of the choices we make are really made by ourselves. We will wrap up first semester by reading Sophie's World and looking at the history of philosophy. In unit seven we will examine issues of justice and equality, including how to allocate resources and how to promote greater access for people in society.
